I guess it's pointless to point out that the Catholic church in this story is a Catholic church in AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE... That there's some bullshit, right there. BULLSHIT. I mean, I'm so annoyed, I can't even really express it. It's moments like these that make me completely give up on film ever being a truly vibrant, engaging source of art. His Dark Materials isn't anti-God, it's a critique of the problems that religion has caused. It's like Dogma that way -- an expression of faith beyond the trappings modern society has assigned spirituality. Stupid.
