Also, WOW have I been busy. But there's a new SMRT-TV, we made a 24-hour film, and all was right with the land. Especially the part of the land that remembered how it bought Season 1 of Batman Beyond, all those weeks ago. Wanna know how to make Batman better? Put him in THE FUTURE.
I know, I know! Where have I been? The answer is "in the black hole where Internet went to die." My phone line is down in my apartment and thus I live off faulty stolen wireless and trips to coffee shops. This would normally enable me to focus on my writing, except that I've been falling asleep at 11:30 and failing to be a human being.
But hey! New SMRT-TV today, and I had some pieces in the new Bookslut, including my APE round-up and a column on V for Vendetta. Good times, good times.
Plus, our last Mayday movie made it to YouTube. So you can watch my crappy-ass cinematography and the fine acting of my friends now! Whenever you want! Enjoy our subtle sleep-deprived genius! And remember, the not-too-distant future is just WEIRD.
I may have mentioned that, a few months ago, I spent an inordinate amount of time playing with Barbies.
Now, you can see the reason why, either here or at YouTube:
Some people laugh. Some people grimace. Some people shrug. And some people reject it from their somewhat incest-y comedy websites. What will you do? It's an exciting mystery, all right!
So far, my New York experience has been mostly limited to hanging out with my friends when they're not busy and walking EVERYWHERE when they are. My ankles steadily throb at all times. I got a NYPL card, lost the Avenue Q cheap tickets lottery, bought two books at the Strand, read poetry standing up in Bryant Park and poked and prodded at the Tribeca Film Fest schedule until some palatable options for the future emerged.
I've rarely been happier or more relaxed.
Having my laptop with me is lovely because it's made me capable of doing work I haven't had time to do previously; as I said to Stefanie, "Being on vacation means that I get to see people I miss and I only have to do things I care about." By those standards, this has been the perfect trip.
Today, I'm going to wander downtown for a while, then meet up with Em and help her buy things for her apartment. Later, there will be two-buck Chuck, maybe some film-going.
I'm in New York this week! On, um, vacation! It's delightful. If you're not a creepy stalker type, you should contact me about hanging out. Time can probably be made.
In other news, blogging will be light this week. Perhaps not non-existant. But certainly light.
